Seattle’s iconic Pioneer Square is about to get a whole lot more luxurious. Aparium Hotel Group, renowned for their unique lifestyle hotels, has announced the appointment of Rod Lapasin as Managing Director and General Manager of Hotel Westland, a new boutique hotel set to open in Spring 2025. This exciting news comes as part of RailSpur, a vibrant cultural hub taking shape in the historic neighborhood.
Lapasin, a fifth-generation Seattleite with over 35 years of experience in the hospitality industry, is the perfect choice to helm this project. He brings a wealth of knowledge from his time with leading hotel brands such as Four Seasons, Fairmont, and Salish Lodge & Spa. His leadership will ensure that Hotel Westland delivers on its promise of a truly exceptional guest experience.
Hotel Westland is set to become a centerpiece of RailSpur, a stunning adaptive reuse development that pays homage to the history of Pioneer Square. The hotel itself is housed within the historic Manufacturers Exchange Building, a 1907 structure that retains its original brick and Douglas Fir timbers. Designed by the acclaimed Miller Hull Partnership and featuring interiors by Curioso, Hotel Westland will be a captivating blend of historic charm and modern luxury.
Beyond its stunning design, the hotel will offer a range of unique features, including 120 beautifully appointed guest rooms, a signature restaurant showcasing the best of Pacific Northwest cuisine, bespoke amenities, and Pioneer Square’s first rooftop bar. From the rooftop, guests will enjoy breathtaking views of Puget Sound and the Seattle skyline. And, as a nod to the city’s vibrant art scene, the hotel will showcase an impressive collection of 328 Pacific Northwest-inspired art pieces curated by ARTXIV.
Lapasin’s role as Managing Director extends beyond Hotel Westland. He will also oversee the entire RailSpur project, which includes a variety of exciting offerings. These include the highly anticipated Death & Co cocktail bar, three Sea Creatures restaurants, 77,000 square feet of workspace, and a rooftop event space. RailSpur will also feature 26 Sonder Suites, vibrant alleys hosting regular art, music, and culinary events, and a variety of offerings that pay tribute to Pioneer Square’s rich history.
The entire project is a testament to the vision of Urban Villages, a leading developer known for their commitment to environmental stewardship and innovative real estate projects. With Aparium Hotel Group, a world-class operator of independent lifestyle hotels, at the helm, Hotel Westland promises to be a captivating addition to Seattle’s vibrant landscape, offering a unique blend of history, art, and modern luxury.
