Fortnite, widely considered one of the best games ever, is tragically absent from iPhones in the US due to legal disputes between Epic Games and Apple. This absence stings, especially for players who primarily experienced the game on their phones. Thankfully, Fortnite is cross-platform, allowing you to continue your progress on another system. However, this isn’t a complete solution.
Don’t abandon your battle bus buddies just yet! There are several workarounds to bring Fortnite back to your iPhone. Here’s how:
Play Fortnite on an iPhone using Xbox’s XCloud
1. If you don’t already have one, create an Xbox/Microsoft account on the Microsoft Signup page.
2. Visit the Fortnite page on XCloud on your iPhone.
3. Hit Play and Continue Anyway if you’re not using a controller.
Play Fortnite on an iPhone using Amazon Luna
This method requires Amazon Prime, a paid service. Consider trying an Amazon Prime free trial to test it out.
1. Head to the Luna page for Fortnite on your iPhone.
2. Select the Play free with Prime button.
3. Sign in and hit Start to link your Epic account and join the fight!
Play Fortnite on an iPhone using GeForce Now
Nvidia’s GeForce Now is another streaming service that allows you to play Fortnite on your iPhone. Unlike Luna, GeForce Now lets you stream free-to-play games like Fortnite without a subscription, but you’re limited to one-hour sessions. For extended gameplay, upgrade to the Premium subscription.
1. Go to the Fortnite page on GeForce Now.
2. Log in to your free or paid Nvidia account.
3. Hit Play to launch into the game.
How to Play Fortnite on iPhone in the EU
Thanks to changes in EU regulations, Epic Games launched its own mobile storefront in the region, bringing Fortnite back to iPhones officially. This is currently limited to the EU, but the company plans to expand to other countries in the future. If you’re lucky enough to be in the EU, here’s how to get started:
1. Download the Epic Games Store on iOS by visiting epic.download through the Safari web browser.
2. Select Install on iOS and press OK when prompted.
3. Open your Settings, where you’ll find a new tab at the top called ‘Allow Apps From “Epic Games Inc.”.’
4. Select it and choose Allow.
5. Reopen your browser, select Install, then Install App Marketplace.
6. Open the Epic Games Store app and select Install next to Fortnite.
Enjoy your return to the battle royale!
