Hudson Sustainable Group Sells Solar PV Portfolio to Solar Schumann, Marking Milestone in Japan’s Renewable Energy Transition

Hudson Sustainable Group (HSG), a global sustainability investment firm, has announced the sale of its solar PV portfolio to Tokyo-based Solar Schumann GK. The transaction marks a significant milestone for HSG, highlighting their ability to curate and develop high-quality renewable energy assets that attract institutional investors. This marks HSG’s second successful exit in Japan, following their 2019 acquisition of 33 solar PV projects under the country’s feed-in-tariff regime.

HSG’s Chief Executive Officer, Neil Auerbach, stated that the sale aligns with their global strategy of creating value through sustainable infrastructure. He further emphasized that this move allows HSG to concentrate their efforts on expanding Horizon Energy KK, their capital-light renewable energy company focused on the post-FIT renewable energy market in Japan.

Jonathan Lee, HSG Partner, expressed satisfaction with Solar Schumann’s recognition of the value of their geographically diversified solar portfolio. He acknowledged the expertise of Mizuho Securities in securing high-quality assets for esteemed investment clients like Solar Schumann.

Hiroki Ishii of Mizuho Securities, who played a key role in the fundraise, expressed admiration for Hudson’s strategic foresight and operational excellence throughout the transaction. He also expressed eagerness for future collaborations with Hudson and its affiliates, including Horizon Energy KK, on mutually beneficial opportunities.
