Police identified Elias Huizar, 39, as the suspect in a homicide investigation that began with a shooting outside William Wiley Elementary School in West Richland on Monday. Officers responded to reports of gunfire around 3:23 p.m., near the end of the school day, and found a woman fatally shot. They later discovered a second body at Huizar’s residence while executing a search warrant. Huizar is also suspected of abducting his 1-year-old son, Roman. Police believe he could be attempting to flee to Mexico in a silver 2009 Toyota Corolla with license plate number CBZ4745. Huizar, a former Yakima police officer, was scheduled to appear in court on Monday for the rape of a teenage girl. The West Richland Police Department, Washington State Patrol, FBI, and U.S. Marshals Service are collaborating in the search for Huizar. Anyone with information is urged to call 911.
