Biden’s Tax Trial Faces Delay Request, Gun Case Trial Date Set

Federal prosecutors are seeking to deny Hunter Biden’s request to delay his upcoming California tax trial, set to commence on June 20th. Biden’s attorney has filed a motion for a 77-day continuance, citing scheduling conflicts.

Special Counsel David Weiss, in his motion, argued that Biden’s attorney had previously agreed to the trial dates and that no defendant should be granted a continuance due to a wrongly filed appeal.

In a separate case, a three-judge panel of a federal appeals court ruled that the tax case against Biden can proceed.

Additionally, in Delaware, Biden faces a gun charge trial scheduled to begin on June 3rd. He is accused of lying about his drug use on a form to purchase a gun in 2018.

In the California tax case, Biden is charged with three felonies and six misdemeanors for failing to pay over $1.4 million in taxes from 2016 to 2019. In the Delaware gun case, he has pleaded not guilty.

A plea agreement reached between Biden and prosecutors was previously rejected by a judge, sending the case to trial.

The developments come amid a series of legal challenges facing Hunter Biden. It remains to be seen how these cases will unfold and their potential impact on his father, President Joe Biden.
