Hyderabad FC Withdraws from Durand Cup 2024 Due to Player Shortage

Hyderabad FC has been forced to withdraw from the ongoing Durand Cup 2024 due to unforeseen circumstances. The club was unable to assemble the necessary 18 players required for participation. The tournament organizers announced that Hyderabad FC pulled out due to these unforeseen circumstances.

To fill the void left by Hyderabad FC in Group F, which is being played in Shillong, the Durand Cup Organising Committee granted the request of the Government of Meghalaya to include the local side Rangdajied United FC.

The tournament, featuring 24 teams divided into six groups of four, is being held in a round-robin league format followed by knockout games. The matches are taking place across four cities: Kolkata, Kokrajhar, Shillong, and Jamshedpur.

The Durand Cup brings together teams from the Indian Super League (ISL), the I-League, and armed forces from India, Nepal, and Bangladesh. This year’s competition was set to see Hyderabad FC face off against FC Goa in their opening match on August 5th at 7 PM IST. However, their withdrawal from the tournament leaves the remaining teams in Group F to battle it out for a place in the knockout stages.
