Hyundai is on a roll, and they’re looking to keep the momentum going with a revamped 2025 model of their popular Ioniq 5 electric SUV. Set to hit dealerships before the year ends, the new Ioniq 5 boasts several improvements that are sure to entice buyers.
First and foremost, the 2025 Ioniq 5 sees an increase in driving range. The base SE model now comes equipped with a larger 63 kWh battery pack, replacing the previous 58 kWh unit. This upgrade delivers a range of 245 miles, up from the 220 miles offered in the previous model. While the increased range is a welcome addition, there’s a slight price bump for the new model. The 2025 Ioniq 5 starts at $43,975, which is $790 more than the outgoing model. However, buyers can still benefit from federal tax credits, offering a $3,750 incentive for purchase and a $7,500 incentive for lease.
Another key feature of the 2025 Ioniq 5 is the addition of Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS) port. Hyundai decided to incorporate NACS alongside the existing Combined Charging System (CCS) a year ago. This move opens up the Ioniq 5 to Tesla’s Supercharger network, allowing for a faster charging experience. Using a Tesla SuperCharger, the base model can charge from 10% to 80% in just 24 minutes.
The new Ioniq 5 also marks the first model to be produced at Hyundai’s brand new plant in Georgia. This is significant because under the Biden administration’s Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), electric vehicles manufactured in the U.S. with key components sourced domestically are eligible for a $7,500 tax incentive. While the new Ioniq 5 qualifies for this incentive, it’s unclear why only half of the incentive is being applied to purchases at this time.
Beyond the base SE model, the Ioniq 5 lineup expands to include several other trims. The Ioniq 5 SE RWD, starting at $48,025, boasts an even larger 84 kWh battery, extending the driving range to a remarkable 318 miles. All-wheel-drive models, like the SE Dual Motor and SEL Dual Motor, are priced at $51,975 and $54,475 respectively. The top-of-the-line Ioniq 5 Limited Dual Motor, featuring a starting retail price of $59,574, offers the ultimate in performance and luxury within the Ioniq 5 lineup.
With its impressive range, new charging options, and expanded trim levels, the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is well-positioned to continue its success in the electric SUV market. As the first model to be produced at Hyundai’s new Georgia plant, the Ioniq 5 embodies Hyundai’s commitment to American manufacturing and the future of electric mobility.
