Hyundai Motor has unveiled its latest electric vehicle, the Casper Electric sub-compact sport utility vehicle (SUV), at the 2024 Busan International Motor Show. This electric iteration of the Casper, first introduced in 2021, boasts a series of significant improvements. Compared to its predecessor, the Casper Electric features a body that has been lengthened by 230 millimeters and widened by 15 mm, resulting in enhanced space utilization and driving stability.
The Casper Electric’s design incorporates a striking EV aesthetic, with its front and rear turn signal lamps adopting a pixel graphic theme reminiscent of Hyundai’s Ioniq models. Powering the Casper Electric is a 49kWh nickel-cobalt-manganese (NCM) battery, capable of delivering a driving range of up to 315 kilometers on a single charge. Furthermore, the EV boasts a fast charging capability, allowing for a charge from 10% to 80% in a mere 30 minutes.
Adding to its versatility, the Casper Electric includes a V2L (vehicle-to-load) function, enabling the car to provide 220 voltage power to external devices. The trunk space has also been expanded, with a 100 mm increase in length, resulting in a 47-liter boost in cargo capacity compared to the original Casper. The interior of the Casper Electric features a modern and user-friendly design, incorporating a 10.25-inch LCD cluster, navigation system, and an electronic gear shift column. Additionally, the steering wheel center showcases four pixel lights that indicate charging status, voice recognition, and other functions.
Hyundai Motor plans to commence preorders for the long-range model of the Casper Electric next month, with other trim models to be introduced sequentially. The automaker also showcased other notable electric models at the Busan International Motor Show, including the Ioniq 5 and 6, Kona Electric, ST1 commercial delivery model, and the hydrogen-powered Xcient fuel cell truck.
