This Sunday, July 13th, passengers flying internationally with Iberia will have a unique opportunity to watch the European Cup final live in the skies. The airline is making this possible by providing complimentary Wi-Fi across all its international routes, allowing passengers to tune into the match via their devices on the Sport24 streaming service. This marks the first time a live event will be broadcasted at an altitude of 30,000 feet, including over transatlantic journeys.
In anticipation of the sporting excitement, Iberia Group has made available over 1,100 seats for supporters traveling to Germany to cheer on the Spanish team. Typically, Iberia Express operates three daily services to Berlin using the Airbus A320, which accommodates 180 travelers. This configuration usually results in 540 available seats each day in both directions. To facilitate the influx of fans, larger A321neo aircraft, seating 232 passengers, are scheduled for the flights departing at 15:55 and 20:00 on Saturday and at 7:30 and 15:55 on Sunday, thereby increasing the seating capacity by an additional 208 seats.
Furthermore, in response to the heightened demand surrounding the final, Iberia has boosted the number of seats on flights to Hamburg and Prague between Sunday and Monday by 8%. The airline will also add special return flights on Monday from Berlin to Madrid with both Iberia and Iberia Express using an A350 and an A321, respectively, to ensure fans and their families return smoothly after the game. The national team will also return to Spain aboard an Iberia flight on Monday at noon.
