Ice-Cream Vendor Stabbed to Death Near India Gate
A 25-year-old ice cream vendor named Prabhakar was fatally stabbed near India Gate in New Delhi on Wednesday evening. Police received information about a knife attack on the vendor and rushed him to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries.
According to the police, preliminary investigations suggest that the deceased was attacked with a knife during a fight. The deceased sustained three wounds on his body, one of which was very deep and caused his death. The police have also recovered some money and a watch from the victim’s bag.
A case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered. The accused, who is currently absconding, has been identified with the help of CCTV cameras installed in nearby shops. Further investigation and efforts to apprehend the accused are ongoing.
In February of this year, another 25-year-old ice cream vendor was stabbed multiple times near Chandni Chowk in north Delhi. The authorities received a PCR call regarding the incident and dispatched a team to the scene. The victim was taken to LNJP Hospital with multiple stab injuries, but was not in a condition to provide a statement due to intoxication.
Investigative teams were assembled to look into the incident, and CCTV footage was scrutinized to identify the assailants, who arrived on a two-wheeler. Further inquiries revealed that the victim had previously been involved in a scuffle with another ice cream vendor, and the enmity angle is being investigated. Legal action will be taken after recording the statement of the injured victim.
