IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG) has announced its first management contract with Kajima Corporation (Kajima) to open ANA Holiday Inn Resort Karuizawa in 2025. This agreement marks the beginning of a mid-to long-term development partnership in Japan between IHG, a leading global hospitality company, and Kajima, a prominent Japanese construction, civil engineering, and real estate development company.
ANA Holiday Inn Resort Karuizawa will be an all-season resort, located just an hour and a half from Tokyo Station at an altitude of 1,300 meters in the scenic Asama wilderness. The resort will feature 100 guest rooms, 2 pet-friendly villas, a restaurant, natural hot springs, a gym, an indoor swimming pool, and other facilities. The adjacent grounds will offer a ski slope for children and adults, as well as an 18-hole golf course, providing a variety of activities year-round.
Currently operating as President Resort Karuizawa, the property will undergo extensive renovations and reopen as ANA Holiday Inn Resort Karuizawa in the first quarter of 2025. Once open, the hotel aims to attract both domestic and international guests through IHG’s global network and its award-winning loyalty program, IHG One Rewards, which has over 130 million members worldwide.
ANA Holiday Inn Resort Karuizawa will be the tenth Holiday Inn brand hotel in Japan and the fourth Holiday Inn Resort, joining ANA Holiday Inn Resort Miyazaki, ANA Holiday Inn Resort Shinano Omachi Kuroyon, and ANA Holiday Inn Resort Appi Kogen. It will also be IHG’s second hotel in Karuizawa, complementing the boutique premium Hotel Indigo Karuizawa, which opened in 2022 and has quickly become popular among both domestic and international travelers.
