IHG Expands in Vietnam with Two New Hotels in Quang Binh

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), a global leader in hospitality, is expanding its footprint in Vietnam with two new hotels in the beautiful Quang Binh province. The company has partnered with Hai Thanh Hung Investment Joint Stock Company and Vietnam Royal Investment and Construction Co., Ltd (VRIC) to develop the voco Quang Binh Resort and the Crowne Plaza Quang Binh City Centre.

The voco Quang Binh Resort, boasting 68 villas, is set to open next year. This luxurious addition to the voco brand will join the voco Ma Belle Danang, making Vietnam a prime destination for travelers seeking both relaxation and business opportunities.

The Crowne Plaza Quang Binh City Centre, with its 232 guest rooms, is scheduled to open in late 2025. This premium brand will continue its expansion in Vietnam, adding to its existing portfolio that includes Crowne Plaza Phu Quoc Starbay and Crowne Plaza Vinh Yen City Centre.

Quang Binh, known for its stunning natural landscapes, including the UNESCO World Heritage Site Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park, is an increasingly popular destination. This park features one of the largest karst landscapes in the world and offers a unique blend of natural beauty and cultural richness.

Chris Anklin, Senior Director, Development, South East Asia and Korea, IHG Hotels & Resorts, expressed enthusiasm about expanding into Quang Binh, stating, “It is wonderful to be expanding into Quang Binh – an exciting new destination for IHG in Vietnam. Creating new tourism experiences together with our partners perfectly showcases our intention to have hotels in the right locations with the right owners.”

He further emphasized IHG’s commitment to Vietnam, highlighting their growth strategy, “We continue to grow in Vietnam and will more than double our size in the next few years to more than 40 hotels across the country. Crowne Plaza Quang Binh City Centre, centrally located in the city centre will offer purposeful spaces for work and leisure that appeal to the modern traveller while voco Quang Binh Resort with its thoughtful, unstuffy and charming experience will become a leading beachfront resort in the area. This destination debut will strengthen the presence of our brand portfolio in Vietnam, offering stay experiences for every type of traveller.”

Thang Hoang, CEO of Hai Thanh Hung Investment Joint Stock Company and Vietnam Royal Investment and Construction Co., Ltd, echoed the sentiment, “We have found the perfect partner in IHG, which is providing us with great value through its global expertise and systems, knowledge of new-builds and conversions, and a strong team with expert knowledge of second and third tier destinations in Vietnam.”

He highlighted the growth potential of Quang Binh, stating, “Quang Binh has traditionally been a domestic-led destination with a great opportunity for growth. Its magnificent beauty includes Son Doong Cave – the largest cave in the world and home to towering stalagmites – underground rivers, a jungle with wildlife, and a 116-kilometre-long coastline with picturesque beaches such as Nhat Le and Da Nhay. The entry of voco hotels and Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts in Quang Binh will elevate the attraction of the destination for travellers to stay and explore its many wonders.”

The Crowne Plaza Quang Binh City Centre will be conveniently located in Royal Landmark, a mixed-use development, just 15 minutes from Dong Hoi Airport and a 45-minute flight from Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport. The hotel will offer modern travelers a variety of amenities, including four dining options, meeting rooms, a swimming pool, a fitness center, a spa, a Kids Club, and an executive lounge.

The voco Quang Binh Resort will be situated on a prime riverfront in Dong Hoi, offering guests a private beach with stunning sea views. Amenities include two restaurants and bars, both indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a Kids Club, a spa, and a resort center.

IHG’s commitment to Vietnam is evident with its current presence of 18 hotels under six brands: Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas, Regent Hotels & Resorts, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, voco hotels, and Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts. With 26 properties in the development pipeline, IHG is set to expand its presence across all its brands in Vietnam, including the introduction of new brands like the Vignette Collection, Hotel Indigo, and Holiday Inn Express.
