For the sixth consecutive year, IHG Hotels & Resorts is proudly partnering with the US Open Tennis Championships, serving as the official hotel partner and loyalty program. This year, IHG is adding a playful twist to the tournament by focusing on a long-standing debate in the tennis world: is a tennis ball green or yellow?
To delve into this color conundrum, IHG conducted a survey of tennis fans across the nation, revealing that opinions are nearly split. A significant 56% believe the tennis ball is yellow, while 44% argue it’s green. Embracing this fun divide, IHG has launched the ‘IHG Rally Room,’ a unique, tennis-ball-themed suite that celebrates both perspectives. Located at Kimpton Hotel Eventi in New York City and Hotel Indigo Atlanta Downtown, this suite is divided down the middle by a tennis court centerline. One half is decorated in vibrant green décor, while the other features bold yellow accents. Regardless of a guest’s preference, IHG ensures a welcoming experience on both sides of the ‘green or yellow’ debate.
Connor Smith, VP of Masterbrand & Partnerships at IHG Hotels & Resorts, stated, “Whether a tennis ball is green or yellow is up to our guests to decide. We love how the ‘IHG Rally Room’ taps into this fun conversation at a time when all eyes are on tennis during the US Open, where IHG is a proud, longstanding partner.”
The ‘IHG Rally Room’ is now available for bookings, starting today, for stays beginning on August 26, with a maximum of two-night stays throughout the US Open main draw.
Adding to the excitement, IHG Hotels & Resorts is hosting its Grand Slam Social event at Kimpton Hotel Eventi in New York City on August 21. This exclusive, invite-only event will feature an electrifying DJ set by acclaimed DJ, producer, and songwriter Mark Ronson. Guests will enjoy lush greenery walls, an elegant country club-style cocktail bar, lounge seating, and a pop-up installation of the ‘IHG Rally Room,’ where they can choose which side of the room they prefer to experience. The event showcases IHG’s expanding luxury and lifestyle brand portfolio, highlighting its impressive collection of 19 brands and over 6,000 global destinations.
Throughout the US Open, event attendees can relax between matches at the IHG Hotels & Resorts Racquet Bar, located on the terrace outside Arthur Ashe Stadium. This shaded outdoor oasis offers VIP treatment with specialty cocktails and a curated wine-by-the-glass menu, available from August 22 through September 8.
