Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill has emphasized the role of the Impact Player in contributing to high-scoring matches in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season. After his team’s narrow four-run loss to Delhi Capitals, Gill expressed that the Impact Player provides batters with an extra cushion and license to keep attacking, even after losing wickets.
Gill acknowledged GT’s strong performance but also recognized the exceptional comeback from DC, particularly the 113-run partnership between Rishabh Pant and Axar Patel. He noted that his bowlers allowed DC to score a few extra runs in the final few overs, which ultimately proved costly.
Despite the defeat, Gill remained positive, highlighting the importance of execution for bowlers on smaller grounds. He also praised Pant’s destructive performance, which earned him the Player of the Match award. Pant, who was returning from injury, expressed his delight at being back on the field and said that every hour spent in the middle is invaluable to him.
