Imran Khan Accuses Chief Justice Of ‘Bias’ Against PTI, Urges Expedited Court Hearings

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has accused Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa of being biased against his party. In a message from Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, Khan urged all judges presiding over his cases to expedite the hearings and refrain from unjustified delays. Khan called the delays in court decisions “unjust” and added that all cases against him were false, baseless, and concocted. He also criticized CJP Isa’s recent statement, saying that he was behaving like a “B-team” against the PTI. Khan referred to CJP Isa’s statement by saying, “You snatched the electoral symbol from PTI, denied a level playing field, and violated our fundamental human rights in the guise of the May 9 incidents, on which our petition has been pending since May 25, 2023, without a hearing till today.”

Khan said that PTI’s petitions against rigging during the general elections have not yet been heard and added that PTI’s women’s reserved seats issue remains pending. He emphasized that the Supreme Court’s decisions have revived the doctrine of necessity and that it is a historic opportunity for great nations to capitalize on historic moments. Khan stated that the decisions which were being coerced through threats were dismantling Pakistan’s judicial system and that the remarks of high court judges have proved that jungle law prevails in the country. He expressed willingness to hold talks but added that dialogue will happen only when the stolen mandate is returned.

Khan’s accusations against CJP Isa and his criticism of the judiciary have sparked controversy in Pakistan. Some PTI supporters have backed Khan’s stance, while others have expressed concern about his attacks on the judiciary. The government has not yet responded to Khan’s allegations. The outcome of this case will be closely watched as it could have implications for the future of Pakistan’s democracy and the rule of law.
