The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) has announced a 15-member team for the 2024 Paris Olympics, featuring eight rifle shooters and seven pistol shooters. Manu Bhaker is the only shooter to be picked for two individual events. The selectors prioritized trial results, which led to the exclusion of world champion Rudrankksh Patil. All team members are currently in a training camp in France. The shotgun squad will be announced after the ISSF World Cup in Italy. India secured a record 21 of the 24 possible quotas in shooting, including a full allocation of eight each in rifle and pistol events. The team is confident in its ability to deliver. However, despite fielding large teams in Tokyo and Rio, India has not yet won a medal in shooting at the Olympics. The NRAI is aiming to change that in Paris. The team is composed of a mix of experienced Olympians and promising young talent. They have been training diligently under the guidance of coaches and support staff. The NRAI is also looking to exchange the spare quota place freed up by Bhaker’s qualification for two events. The Paris Games will be held from July 26 to August 11.
