The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the replacements for the first two T20Is against Zimbabwe. Sai Sudharsan, Jitesh Sharma, and Harshit Rana will be stepping in for Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube, and Yashasvi Jaiswal respectively.
While the trio was initially scheduled to join the Zimbabwe squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series starting on Saturday, they will now travel to India with the rest of the ICC T20 World Cup-winning Indian squad. The team will then depart for Harare ahead of the remaining matches in the series.
This change in plans comes as a result of the Indian team’s recent victory at the T20 World Cup. The players, initially part of the Zimbabwe tour, were also part of the victorious World Cup squad. The BCCI has decided to allow them to first return to India and celebrate with the rest of the team before heading to Harare.
The first two T20Is between India and Zimbabwe are scheduled for August 18th and 20th at Harare Sports Club. The remaining three matches will be played on August 22nd, 24th, and 26th at the same venue.
