India has unveiled its squad for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka, set to take place from July 27th to August 7th. The tour will feature three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) and three One-Day Internationals (ODIs).
In a significant development, Suryakumar Yadav has been named captain for the T20I series. This follows Rohit Sharma’s recent decision to retire from the format after India’s triumphant World Cup win last month. However, Rohit will continue to lead the Indian team in ODIs.
The squad selection also sees the return of Virat Kohli to the 50-over format, adding further experience and firepower to the Indian batting lineup. Shubman Gill has been appointed vice-captain in both T20Is and ODIs, further solidifying his position as a key player in the team’s future plans.
The Men in Blue will be aiming for a successful tour of Sri Lanka, building momentum ahead of crucial upcoming tournaments. The T20I series will provide a platform for the team to experiment with combinations and tactics, while the ODI matches will offer valuable preparation for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup.
