India Announces Women’s T20 World Cup Squad: Harmanpreet Kaur to Lead in UAE

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced the 15-player Indian women’s team that will compete in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. The tournament is scheduled to take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from October 3rd to October 20th, with matches being held in Dubai and Sharjah.

Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the team as captain, with Smriti Mandhana serving as her deputy. The squad is a blend of experienced players and rising stars, aiming to make their mark on the international stage.

The tournament will feature a total of 23 matches, with the world’s top 10 women’s teams battling it out for the coveted title. These teams have been divided into two groups of five. Group A includes the defending champions Australia, along with India, Pakistan, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka. Group B consists of Bangladesh, England, South Africa, West Indies, and Scotland.

Each team will play four group matches, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals. India’s journey begins with a match against New Zealand. To fine-tune their performance, the team will play two warm-up matches against South Africa and West Indies before the tournament officially kicks off.
