The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Rajasthan and Uttarakhand, anticipating heavy rainfall on Friday, September 6. This signifies a high likelihood of significant precipitation that could lead to potential disruptions.
Meanwhile, a yellow alert is in place for several other states, including Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Goa, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. While this alert indicates a lower intensity of rainfall compared to the orange alert, it still urges caution and preparedness for potential weather-related impacts.
The Regional Meteorological Centre in Delhi predicts generally cloudy skies with light rainfall and thunderstorms throughout the day, with the yellow alert for the National Capital remaining in effect. Wet spells are likely to continue in the region until September 9. The maximum temperature in Delhi is anticipated to reach around 33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will hover around 24 degrees Celsius.
Mumbai, the financial capital of India, is also expected to experience wet spells until September 11. Moderate rain is predicted for Friday, with the maximum and minimum temperatures expected to settle around 30 and 26 degrees Celsius respectively.
The IMD’s forecast for West and Central India indicates “fairly widespread to widespread light/moderate rainfall” likely to persist until September 12. Chhattisgarh is also included in this prediction. In South Peninsular India, isolated heavy rainfall is anticipated in Kerala and Mahe between September 8th and 11th. Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam are expected to experience similar weather conditions from September 6th to 8th. Telangana is likely to see heavy precipitation until September 8th, while Karnataka is expected to experience heavy rainfall until September 9th.
The weather agency has also forecasted “very heavy rainfall” in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on September 11th, in Assam and Meghalaya on September 7th, and in Odisha over the next two days.
In Northwest India, IMD predicts “isolated very heavy rainfall” in Uttarakhand on September 6th and in Rajasthan until September 7th. Additionally, there is a possibility of “heavy rainfall” in Uttar Pradesh on September 6th, in Rajasthan until September 9th, and in Uttarakhand until September 7th.
