The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather forecast for India, anticipating widespread rainfall across the country. Delhi-NCR is expected to experience generally cloudy skies with light rain accompanied by thunderstorms over the next three days, prompting a yellow alert. The maximum and minimum temperatures for the national capital are expected to be around 33 and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Heavy rainfall is predicted in several states, with an orange alert issued for Kerala, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Uttarakhand. The IMD’s forecast for Northwest India indicates fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall over the Western Himalayan Region and scattered to fairly widespread rainfall over the plains of Northwest India throughout the week. Heavy rainfall is expected in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan until August 18, in Haryana until August 16, in Jammu and Kashmir over the next three days, and in Punjab on August 14. Isolated very heavy rainfall is also anticipated over Uttarakhand and East Rajasthan on August 13th.
For West and Central India, light to moderate rainfall is predicted until August 19. Heavy rainfall is expected in Chhattisgarh on August 13 and in Madhya Pradesh until August 14.
The eastern and northeastern parts of India are also expected to witness heavy precipitation. Arunachal Pradesh is likely to experience heavy rainfall until August 15, while Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are anticipated to receive heavy rainfall until August 17. Sikkim is expected to experience heavy rainfall until August 14, and West Bengal and Bihar until August 18. Jharkhand and Odisha are expected to see heavy rainfall until August 16.
In South Peninsular India, scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall is anticipated until August 19. Heavy downpours are predicted in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karnataka, Kerala, and Lakshadweep until August 16.
