India C showcased their dominance in the first round of the Duleep Trophy, defeating India D by four wickets at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur on Saturday. The victory was orchestrated by a remarkable bowling display from Manav Suthar, who claimed an impressive seven wickets, along with crucial contributions from the batting trio of skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, Aryan Juyal, and Rajat Patidar.
Resuming their innings at 206/8, India D could only add 30 runs to their overnight score, as Suthar accounted for both remaining wickets, finishing with an extraordinary figure of 19.1-7-49-7. Chasing a target of 233, India C received a flying start from Ruturaj Gaikwad and his opening partner Sai Sudharsan, who put on a 64-run stand in just 11.1 overs. However, Sudharsan’s dismissal, caught by Ricky Bhui off Saransh Jain’s delivery, brought an end to the partnership. Despite the setbacks, Abhishek Porel’s unbeaten 35 proved crucial as India C chased down the target in 61 overs, securing a win on the third day itself.
