The spirit of Indian Independence Day is already palpable across the country as various events and celebrations are underway. In Ladakh, on the eve of the 78th Independence Day, Indian Army personnel held a stirring Tiranga Yatra, a procession with the Indian flag. The event commenced at Col. Rinchen’s Memorial and proceeded to the Hall of Fame in Leh. The soldiers marched forward, waving the tri-colored flag and singing patriotic songs such as ‘Lehra Do’ and ‘Mere Desh ki Dharti,’ showcasing their unwavering dedication to the nation.
Meanwhile, the BJP has initiated its own Tiranga Yatra, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah flagging off the procession in Ahmedabad. He urged the youth of India to strive towards making India a developed nation by 2047. This sentiment echoed through the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Bike Rally’ flagged off by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and several Union Ministers in the capital city. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, a Union Minister, aptly described the Tiranga as a symbol that binds the nation together, representing the shared pride and unity of India.
This year marks the third edition of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, which runs from August 9th to 15th. This initiative, launched during the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in 2022, has gained momentum and evolved into a widespread people’s movement. The campaign encourages citizens to display the Indian flag at their homes, further amplifying the spirit of nationalism.
As India prepares for Independence Day, the theme ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) underscores the government’s ambition to transform the nation by 2047. In Delhi, security is being strengthened to ensure a safe and peaceful celebration. The Delhi Police has deployed over 3,000 traffic officers, 10,000 police personnel, and 700 AI-based facial recognition cameras across the capital. Additional security measures, including the deployment of paramilitary forces, have been implemented at various locations, such as the IGI Airport, railway stations, bus stands, malls, and markets. These comprehensive security measures reflect the commitment to safeguard the celebrations and ensure the safety of citizens.
