India has condemned the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, expressing concern over the large-scale loss of civilian lives, especially women and children. India’s permanent representative to the UN, Ruchira Kamboj, reiterated India’s support for a two-state solution, where the Palestinian people can live freely in an independent country within secure borders, with due regard to the security needs of Israel. Kamboj also urged all parties to foster conditions conducive to resuming direct peace negotiations at an early date.
Additionally, India reaffirmed its support for the Palestinian bid for full membership at the United Nations. Kamboj stated that India has voted in favor of the resolution and hopes that Palestine’s application will be reconsidered by the Security Council.
In keeping with its longstanding position, India has consistently supported Palestine’s membership at the UN and believes that Palestine’s endeavor to become a member should be endorsed.
