India Declares 2025 as ‘Year of MICE Tourism’ to Boost Industry Growth

The Network of Indian MICE Agents (NIMA), a prominent force in India’s MICE industry, has declared 2025 as the “Year of MICE Tourism.” This announcement, coinciding with NIMA’s 10th anniversary, marks a decade of dedicated service in promoting Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism within India.

The year-long initiative will feature a multitude of events and activities, spanning from major metropolitan cities like Raipur and Ranchi to smaller towns like Madurai, Mohali, Agra, and Amritsar. This widespread effort aims to invigorate MICE tourism across the entire country.

As part of this initiative, NIMA has also declared June 21 as “World MICE Tourism Day.” This date, marking the summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere, symbolizes the pinnacle of the global travel and event season. It provides a fitting occasion to recognize and celebrate the significance of the MICE industry, which plays a pivotal role in driving tourism and economic growth.

During NIMA’s 10th-anniversary celebration event held in Delhi on August 28, various leaders of the association emphasized the importance of 2025 as the “Year of MICE Tourism.” Vikas Khanduri, NIMA’s Advisor, highlighted the initiative’s significance for the industry’s future. Dr. Nitin Mittal focused on NIMA’s commitment to education and training, while Gurmeet Chhatwal discussed the association’s expanding presence in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. Jyoti Monga outlined plans to amplify NIMA’s international reach, and Rajiv Chawla detailed the association’s strategic expansion across all Indian states. Sanjay Sharma emphasized the crucial role of corporate MICE business standards and procedures for MICE operators.

Founded by Gajesh Girdhar, who continues to lead the association, NIMA has evolved into a robust network encompassing a National Executive Committee comprised of active MICE operators and SMEs from major metropolitan areas like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata. This extends to Tier II and III cities like Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Bhubaneshwar, as well as smaller towns like Yamuna Nagar and Tirupati.

As NIMA celebrates its 10th anniversary, it remains steadfast in its commitment to advancing the Indian MICE industry. The association is dedicated to ensuring that this sector continues to thrive and grow both domestically and internationally, solidifying its position as a vital contributor to India’s economic landscape.
