NDA Wins Majority, BJP Falls Short of Halfway Mark in Lok Sabha
In a closely contested election, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has emerged victorious in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. However, the BJP fell short of the halfway mark of 272 seats, securing only 291 seats.
The Congress-led INDIA bloc made significant gains, winning 234 seats compared to 52 in the previous election. The Congress party itself won 99 seats.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who secured a third term in office, expressed his determination to continue taking bold decisions and combat corruption.
Rise of Regional Parties
The election results also witnessed the rise of regional parties. Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) and N. Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party emerged as potential kingmakers, holding the balance of power in the Lok Sabha.
Both parties have pledged their support to the NDA,但同时,该联盟也面临来自印度联盟的拉拢,印度联盟在多数席位上以近40个席位落后。
