India is taking a significant step towards streamlining international travel by expanding its Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) to seven more major airports. This initiative, which debuted successfully in Delhi, now extends to Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and several other key airports.
The FTI-TTP aims to expedite immigration clearance for pre-verified Indian nationals and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders. Participants in the program benefit from a swift and secure experience by utilizing e-gates that allow them to quickly pass through immigration by simply scanning their boarding passes and passports. Biometric authentication ensures a smooth and reliable process.
Inspired by the U.S. Global Entry Program, the FTI-TTP offers a hassle-free immigration experience for low-risk travelers. Registration for the program is valid for five years or until the passport expires. Applicants must complete the registration process online, provide biometric data at designated airports, and ensure their passport has at least six months of validity. Over 18,000 individuals have already enrolled in the program.
The FTI-TTP is poised to significantly enhance international travel efficiency in India. The program, currently open to Indian citizens and OCI cardholders, is expected to eventually expand to foreign travelers and be implemented at 21 airports across the country. This ambitious expansion underscores the government’s commitment to making India a more accessible and welcoming destination for global travelers.
