India Extends Budgetary Support to Maldives, Reviews Community Development Projects

During the India-Maldives Review meeting, Indian High Commissioner Munu Mahawar and Maldivian Ambassador-at-Large Ahmed Naseer discussed high-impact community development projects funded by India. Currently, India is supporting 65 such projects in the Maldives, valued at MVR 360 million.

In a social media post, the Indian High Commission highlighted India’s ongoing support for community development in the Maldives.

Additionally, the Indian government has extended budget support to the Maldives by rolling over a $50 million Treasury Bill for another year. This extension was granted at the request of Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid. According to the Indian High Commission, the Government of Maldives specifically requested the continuation of the subscription to ensure budgetary support from India.

The Maldivian Foreign Ministry expressed appreciation for India’s continued financial assistance. Foreign Minister Shahid thanked Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar for the gesture, emphasizing the strong friendship between the two countries.

These developments underscore the close cooperation and mutual support between India and the Maldives, particularly in areas of development and economic stability.
