Prime Minister Narendra Modi has embarked on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, with a primary focus on the International Yoga Day celebrations in Srinagar. This marks PM Modi’s first trip to the region since assuming office for a third consecutive term. He is scheduled to unveil several development projects and participate in the Yoga Day festivities on Friday. On June 21st, PM Modi will lead the International Yoga Day celebrations at SKICC, Srinagar, addressing the gathering and participating in a CYP Yoga session.

Meanwhile, in a significant development, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been granted bail in a money laundering case linked to Delhi’s Excise Policy. The Rouse Avenue court, despite objections from the Enforcement Directorate (ED), granted bail to Kejriwal upon submission of a bail bond worth ₹ One Lakh. The release order is expected to be sent to Tihar jail authorities by 4 pm on Friday, initiating the process for his release.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has begun a two-day state visit to India, aiming to further strengthen the already close ties between the two nations. This visit marks the first bilateral state visit by a foreign leader since the formation of the new government in India following the Lok Sabha elections. Hasina and Modi are scheduled to engage in comprehensive discussions on Saturday, likely resulting in agreements for collaboration across various sectors.

The Congress party has announced plans for nationwide demonstrations on Friday, demanding justice for students affected by anomalies in the NEET-UG 2024 exam. The party’s General Secretary, K C Venugopal, highlighted concerns about alleged irregularities and paper leaks, citing inflated marks of certain candidates.

Delhi Water Minister Atishi has declared her intention to embark on an indefinite hunger strike from Friday noon at Bhogal in south Delhi. This action is driven by her demand for 100 million gallons of water per day from Haryana. She emphasized that Delhi requires 1,005 MGD of water, with 613 MGD sourced from Haryana, which has been reduced to 513 MGD in the past two weeks, causing water scarcity for approximately 28 lakh people in the city.

In a display of commitment to promoting yoga, Chief Justice of India (CJI) D Y Chandrachud and other Supreme Court judges will participate in the 10th International Yoga Day celebrations on Friday. The apex court has organized a yoga event for its officers and staff, with yoga asanas overseen by experts.

The first session of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, following the TDP-led coalition’s victory in the state elections, is anticipated to commence on June 21st. Initially scheduled for June 24th, the date has been moved forward.

Amidst ongoing tension in parts of Balasore town, the Odisha government has extended the curfew period until midnight of June 21st. While the curfew remains in effect, a six-hour relaxation will be granted on Friday from 6 am to noon to enable residents to meet their daily needs. During this relaxation period, commercial establishments and routine services will be allowed to operate.
