India achieved a double podium finish in the men’s javelin F46 event at the Paris 2024 Paralympics on Tuesday, adding two more medals to their impressive tally. Ajeet Singh secured a silver medal with a best throw of 65.62 meters in the fifth round, marking his first Paralympic medal. Meanwhile, Sundar Singh Gurjar, the world record holder, claimed the bronze medal with a throw of 64.96 meters in the fourth round. This is Gurjar’s second Paralympic medal, having previously won bronze in the same category at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.
The third Indian competitor, Rinku, finished fifth with a throw of 61.58 meters. The gold medal went to Cuba’s Guillermo Varona Gonzalez, who secured victory with a throw of 66.14 meters in the second round. With these two medals, India’s total medal count at the Paris 2024 Paralympics has reached 18, comprising three gold, six silver, and nine bronze medals. This remarkable performance showcases the exceptional talent and dedication of Indian athletes on the world stage.
