The Union Ministry of Tourism is actively participating in IMEX Frankfurt from May 14th to 16th, 2024. This participation aims to showcase India’s position as a leading destination for meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) in the global market. IMEX Frankfurt serves as a crucial platform for professionals in the global events industry, providing opportunities to enhance businesses and gain valuable insights. Recognizing the potential of MICE tourism, the Indian tourism ministry has identified it as a key sector to address seasonality and promote India as a year-round destination. To support this initiative, the ministry has introduced ‘Meet in India,’ a specialized sub-brand within the renowned ‘Incredible India’ campaign. This sub-brand aims to bolster promotional efforts, highlighting India’s appeal as a MICE destination with its excellent connectivity, world-class infrastructure, extensive knowledge base, and diverse tourist attractions. During India’s presidency of the G20, over 200 meetings were successfully held across 56 cities, providing a significant boost to both domestic and international tourism. This platform effectively showcased India’s robust MICE infrastructure and its rich cultural and natural heritage on a global scale. Leveraging this momentum, the Ministry of Tourism is dedicated to positioning India as a premier global hub for MICE activities. Considerable progress has been made in enhancing internal connectivity via air and road networks, facilitating seamless travel within the country. Additionally, new facilities for conferences and conventions have been developed, solidifying India’s position as a top destination for MICE events. Notably, in 2022, India secured the 9th rank in the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) rankings for countries in the Asia Pacific region, a testament to the country’s growing prominence in the MICE tourism sector.
