Despite the reigning world champion and Copa America winner, Argentina, solidifying its position at the top of the FIFA men’s rankings, India remained stagnant at 124th place. This latest release comes after India’s disappointing performance in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers, where they failed to advance to the third round following defeats against Qatar and Afghanistan. This downward trend has been evident since December, marking a significant drop from India’s previous peak ranking of 99th in the top 100.
India’s struggles continue within the Asian region as well, with the nation falling behind countries like Lebanon, Palestine, and Vietnam, placing them in 22nd position.
Meanwhile, Argentina, after successfully defending its Copa America title, cemented its place at the top of the rankings. France remained a close challenger in second place after reaching the semi-finals of EURO 2024. Spain, newly crowned European champions, celebrated a five-place jump to claim third position, while England, the runner-up, secured fourth place after surpassing Brazil, now in fifth. Belgium dropped three places, exiting the top five, with the Netherlands and Portugal trailing behind. Colombia, despite a narrow defeat to Argentina in the Copa America final, found solace in its impressive climb to ninth place.
