ISSF President Luciano Rossi, who is currently in India for the season-ending ISSF World Cup Final, praised India’s achievements in shooting, particularly its impressive performance at the recent Junior World Championship in Peru. He expressed the ISSF’s strong support for India’s future endeavors, stating that the organization would be happy to assist in their efforts to host more international events. “I would like to congratulate India for their stellar performance at the recently concluded Junior World Championship in Peru. I would also like to inform that we at ISSF will support India’s application to host the Junior World Cup in 2025 and other future international events as and when we are approached by NRAI,” Rossi told the media.
Rossi highlighted India’s significant contribution to the global shooting scene, recognizing not only its talented athletes but also its dedicated efforts to expand the sport’s reach and infrastructure. He emphasized that hosting events like the World Cup Final showcases India’s commitment to the sport and its ability to elevate it on a global stage.
The 2024 ISSF World Cup Final, starting on Tuesday at the Dr. Karni Singh Ranges, will see a squad of 23 Indian shooters competing against the world’s best. The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) President Kalikesh Singh Deo expressed pride in India’s growing stature in shooting, attributing it to a collective effort from all stakeholders involved in creating a strong ecosystem for the sport, from grassroots programs to elite training facilities. He emphasized that hosting events like the World Cup Final reinforces India’s ability to elevate shooting sports globally.
“Hosting events like the ISSF World Cup Final demonstrates India’s ability to elevate shooting sport globally. “We are committed to bringing world events on a regular basis, not only to help boost the confidence of the Indian team, but also help upcoming generations be inspired by watching their favourite stars in live action in front of them,” Singh Deo said.
