India to Host Men’s Asia Cup T20 in 2024, Bangladesh to Host 2027 Edition

India has been confirmed as the host of the men’s Asia Cup in the T20 format in 2024. Meanwhile, Bangladesh will host the tournament in a 50-over format in 2027. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has issued an Invitation for Expressions of Interest for sponsorship rights, highlighting that the 2024 tournament will consist of 13 matches and feature six teams. These teams include India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. The final spot will be determined through a qualifying event. While specific dates remain unconfirmed, sources within the ACC suggest the tournament could take place in September, once the monsoon season in India subsides. According to the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Future Tours Program (FTP) 2023-27, India has a packed schedule in 2024. The team will be engaged in limited-overs series against England in January-February, followed by the Champions Trophy in February-March. After the IPL concludes, India will tour England from June to August before heading to Bangladesh for three ODIs and three T20Is. The Asia Cup is anticipated to be held after the Bangladesh series and before the two-match Test series against the West Indies in October. However, sources within the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have clarified that no decisions have been made regarding potential venues for the Asia Cup. Notably, there will be no men’s Asian tournament in 2026. However, the Women’s Asia Cup will be played that year in a T20 format, followed by the men’s U-19 and Emerging Teams Asia Cup tournament. The previous edition of the Asia Cup, played in 2022, was conducted in a hybrid model. Pakistan hosted some matches, while India played all their fixtures in Sri Lanka. Under Rohit Sharma’s leadership, India emerged victorious, defeating Sri Lanka by 10 wickets in the final at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
