India Weather Alert: Heavy Rains Expected in Maharashtra, Telangana, Odisha and More

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Maharashtra, Telangana, and Odisha, predicting heavy showers throughout the day. Andhra Pradesh is on red alert for September 8th, while numerous other states are under yellow alert.

West and Central India:

The IMD forecasts “very heavy rainfall” in Maharashtra on September 8th and 9th, and in the Vidarbha region on September 12th. Madhya Pradesh is expected to see “heavy rainfall” until September 14th. Chhattisgarh and Goa are expected to experience wet spells until September 12th. Additionally, “heavy rainfall” is likely in Vidarbha from September 8th to 13th, in Madhya Maharashtra until September 10th, and in Marathwada on September 12th and 13th.

South Peninsular India:

The IMD’s latest press release states, “Isolated extremely heavy rainfall very likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam on 08th September.” It further predicts, “Isolated very heavy rainfall very likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam and Telangana on 08th & 09th September.” Kerala is expected to see “heavy rainfall” until September 9th, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana until September 10th, and Karnataka until September 11th.

East and Northeast India:

The IMD’s weather bulletin dated September 7th predicts isolated very heavy rainfall very likely over Odisha until September 10th, in Assam and Meghalaya between September 10th and 12th, and in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on September 10th and 11th. Downpours are likely to continue in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura until September 15th, in Odisha until September 11th, in Arunachal Pradesh from September 10th to 13th, in West Bengal and Sikkim over the next 5 days, and in Bihar and Jharkhand between September 11th and 13th.

Northwest India:

The IMD predicts “isolated heavy rainfall” in Rajasthan on September 8th, in Uttarakhand over the coming 3 days, in Uttar Pradesh on September 10th and 11th, and in Rajasthan again on September 13th, after a brief lull on September 9th.
