As the monsoon season gradually begins its retreat, India is expected to experience light to moderate rainfall in the coming days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather bulletin for September 20, providing insights into the weather patterns across various regions.
Delhi’s Weather:
The Regional Meteorological Centre in Delhi forecasts partly cloudy skies during the day. The maximum temperature in the national capital is expected to settle around 34 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will hover around 23 degrees Celsius.
Air Quality Improvement:
Following intermittent downpours, Delhi has witnessed an improvement in its air quality over the past few days. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, the city registered an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 90 at 6:30 am, falling within the ‘satisfactory’ category. However, this AQI is 27 points higher than the previous day’s reading. Notably, Karnataka’s Karwar boasts the lowest AQI of 22, signifying the best air quality in the country, while Gujarat’s Nandesari experiences the highest AQI of 208.
Central India:
The IMD predicts “scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall” in Central India until September 26. Between September 23 and 25, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh are expected to experience “isolated heavy rainfall.” Vidarbha is likely to receive wet spells on September 24 and 25.
East and Northeast India:
The IMD’s latest weather bulletin states, “Fairly widespread to Widespread light/moderate rainfall very likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands; Scattered to Fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall very likely over remaining East India & Northeast India during the week.” Isolated heavy rainfall is expected over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on September 20; Odisha on September 22 and 23; Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura between September 22 and 25; and Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya between September 23 and 25.
Northwest India:
IMD predicts isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall in Northwest India until September 26.
