India’s archery team continued its impressive performance at the Archery World Cup Stage 3 in Antalya, Turkey, claiming a bronze medal in the recurve mixed team event. The duo of B. Dhiraj and Ankita Bhakat, ranked third in the world, delivered a dominant performance in the bronze medal match, defeating the Mexican pair of Marcus D’Almeida and Ana Luiza Sliachticas Caetano by a score of 5-1.
Earlier in the competition, the Indian team had received a bye in the first round before overcoming Great Britain 5-1. They continued their strong run by beating Brazil 5-1 in the quarterfinals, but ultimately fell short against the second-ranked South Korean team in the semifinals, losing 3-5.
This bronze medal adds to India’s successful performance at the World Cup. On Saturday, the Indian women’s compound team, comprised of V. Jyothi Surekha, Parneet Kaur, and Aditi Swami, won their third consecutive gold medal of the season. They defeated Estonia in the final, showcasing their dominance in the event. Furthermore, Priyansh, a member of the Indian compound archery team, secured a silver medal in the men’s individual event. He narrowly lost to Denmark’s Mathias Fullerton in the semifinals, demonstrating his impressive skills.
