India Wins Four Medals at Archery World Cup Stage 3

Dhiraj Bommadevara had a remarkable Super Sunday at the Archery World Cup Stage 3 in Antalya, Turkey. He secured bronze in the men’s individual recurve event, adding to his earlier bronze in the mixed team event with Bhajan Kaur. This doubled India’s medal tally at the competition to four. Bommadevara and Kaur overcame the Mexican pair of Alejandra Valencia and Matias Grande in a thrilling mixed team bronze medal match. They trailed 0-2 after the first set but fought back to tie the score with a perfect round. They eventually sealed a 5-3 victory (35-38, 40-39, 38-37, 38-38).

Bommadevara continued his impressive performance, defeating Italy’s Mauro Nespoli to claim another bronze in the individual event. The Indian pair received a bye in the first round of the mixed team event, followed by a 5-1 victory over Great Britain. They then defeated Brazil by the same margin in the quarter-finals before losing 3-5 to South Korea in the semi-finals.

While Bommadevara finished with a medal, Ankita Bhakat unfortunately fell short in the women’s individual recurve event. She suffered a 2-6 defeat to China’s Yang Xiaolei in the semi-finals and lost the bronze medal playoff 2-7 against Mexico’s Valencia.

On Saturday, India had already celebrated gold in the women’s compound event thanks to Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Aditi Swami, and Parneet Kaur, who defeated Estonia’s Lisell Jaatma, Meeri-Marita Paas, and Maris Tetsmann 232-229 in the gold medal match. Priyansh also secured silver in the men’s individual event on the same day.
