India Women Aim for Unassailable Lead Against South Africa in Second ODI

India will be hoping for a more polished performance from their top-order batters in the second Women’s ODI against South Africa on Wednesday. A win will give them an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Although India secured a resounding 143-run victory in the first game, their batting performance raised some concerns.

The home side capitalized on Smriti Mandhana’s century and a brilliant display by the spinners to dominate South Africa. However, their batting frailties were exposed. South Africa will also be eager to see their batters perform better after struggling against the Indian bowlers on a slow Chinnaswamy pitch.

The Indian spinners, Asha, Deepti Sharma, and Radha Yadav, combined for seven wickets in the first ODI. South Africa must find a way to counter their threat to avoid another collapse. It is crucial for the South African captain, Laura Wolvaardt, who was dismissed in the first over of the opening match, to regain her form.

The M Chinnaswamy Stadium has hosted 13 Women’s ODIs in its history. The last Women’s ODI held there was in July 2015 when India faced New Zealand. The venue is known to favor chasing teams due to its smaller boundaries. However, India has lost six of their matches at this ground.

The weather forecast for Bengaluru predicts a cool morning with humidity expected to rise to almost 80% throughout the day. The India Meteorological Department anticipates mostly cloudy skies with moderate rainfall and the possibility of thunderstorms. Hopefully, the weather will allow for as much game time as possible.

Tickets for the series are available in three price brackets – Rs. 150, 250, and 1250. Currently, only the Rs. 250 and Rs. 1250 tickets are available for purchase on [Ticket Platform].

The first ODI between India Women and South Africa Women will be broadcast on the Sports18 network and DD Sports in India. Live streaming is available through the JioCinema app and website.
