India Women showcased their dominance in the one-off Test against South Africa Women at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Monday, securing a comprehensive 10-wicket victory. The Indian team, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, declared their first innings at a formidable 603 for six, setting a challenging target for the visitors. Despite a valiant effort from South Africa, their first innings ended at 266, leaving India with a substantial lead.
Although India were initially eyeing an innings victory, centuries from Sune Luus and Laura Wolvaardt helped South Africa stay in the contest. However, Nadine de Klerk’s gritty fifty ensured that South Africa’s total would be surpassed, forcing India to bat again.
In the second innings, Shubha Sateesh and Shafali Verma exhibited their prowess, guiding India to a comfortable victory within just 10 overs. Verma’s double century and Sneh Rana’s exceptional ten-wicket haul highlighted India’s dominance throughout the match, leaving South Africa with a significant challenge to overcome in the future.
