The highly anticipated sequel, ‘Indian 2,’ starring Kamal Haasan, experienced a slight dip in its box office collections on its second day. The movie earned approximately ₹ 18.2 crore India net across all languages, marking a 28.91% decrease from its first-day earnings. Despite the decline, the film has already garnered a cumulative total of ₹ 43.8 crore.
The Tamil version of ‘Indian 2’ continues to dominate the box office, raking in ₹ 13.7 crore on its second day. This represents a slight decrease from its first-day earnings. However, the Hindi version saw a positive trend, increasing its earnings to ₹ 1.3 crore, from ₹ 1.2 crore on its first day. The movie’s performance in other regional markets, excluding Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Kerala, also showed an upward trend. Earnings in these regions reached ₹ 1.7 crore, exceeding the previous day’s earnings of ₹ 1.6 crore.
S.Shankar’s film achieved its highest overall earnings in Tamil Nadu, reaching ₹ 25.1 crore with the second day’s collection reaching ₹ 12.1 crore in the state. On its opening day, the movie amassed a total of ₹ 25.6 crore, with the Tamil version garnering the lion’s share at ₹ 16.5 crore.
The movie’s performance extends beyond India, with ‘Indian 2’ grossing ₹ 51.35 crore in India and an additional ₹ 28.65 crore in the overseas market.
‘Indian 2,’ directed by S. Shankar, was released on Friday, July 12, in three languages: Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil. The Hindi title reads ‘Hindustani 2,’ while in Telugu, it is titled ‘Bharateeyudu 2.’ The film’s first poster was unveiled on the occasion of the Pongal festival in 2020. ‘Indian 2’ features music by Anirudh Ravichander and stars an ensemble cast including Samuthirakani, Bobby Simha, Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, and Priya Bhavani Shankar.
