The highly anticipated sequel, ‘Indian 2’, directed by Shankar and starring Kamal Haasan, has finally hit theaters on July 12th. This action-packed film, a follow-up to the 1996 Tamil blockbuster ‘Indian’, features a star-studded cast including Rakul Preet Singh, Sidharth, Kajal Aggarwal, and Priya Bhavani Shankar. Produced by Subaskaran Allirajah’s Lyca Productions and Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies, the film revolves around an aging freedom fighter’s battle against corruption in the new India.
Despite a mixed reception from audiences, the film’s digital rights have been acquired by Netflix, sparking anticipation for its OTT release. While the film’s storyline has been criticized by some, Kamal Haasan’s powerful performance has garnered praise from viewers.
According to media reports, ‘Indian 2’ is expected to premiere on Netflix sometime in August. While an official release date has yet to be confirmed, the streaming giant is likely to make an announcement in the coming weeks.
The film, released in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi, has been a box office success, generating over ₹150 crore in revenue. Released in 2D, IMAX, and 4DX formats, ‘Indian 2’ also generated significant buzz even before its release, with over 3.88 lakh tickets sold on the first day.
Aniruddh Ravichander, known for his work on Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jawan’, composed the film’s soundtrack, adding to the film’s overall appeal. ‘Indian 2’, also known as ‘Hindustani 2’, has garnered a lot of attention, with fans eagerly awaiting the film’s release on Netflix to experience the continuation of the beloved ‘Indian’ franchise.
