On Monday, terrorists attacked the Village Development Committee (VDC) in Gunda village, Rajouri, triggering a fierce firefight with security personnel. The Army responded swiftly, engaging the attackers and successfully repelling their assault. The White Knight Corps confirmed the attack on X, stating that terrorists targeted the house of a VDC member in Gunda at 3:10 AM. A nearby Army unit immediately intervened, leading to a sustained firefight.

Just days prior to the Battal incident, an army convoy was targeted in Kathua, highlighting the ongoing threat posed by terrorist groups. They encountered terrorists around 9 pm, leading to a heavy firefight that resulted in the deaths of four soldiers: Captain Brijesh Thapa, Naik D Rajesh, Sepoy Bijendra, and Sepoy Ajay.
