Indian Athletes Set to Compete in Multiple Disciplines at Paris Paralympics on August 31st

The 17th edition of the Summer Paralympics is underway in Paris, France, and will conclude on September 8th. The event features 549 events across 22 sports, showcasing the incredible talent and determination of athletes with disabilities from around the world.

On August 31st, Indian athletes will be in action across several disciplines, promising a day of thrilling competition.

Para Badminton:

The day kicks off with Mandeep Kaur competing in the Women’s Singles SL3 Group Play Stage against Celine Aurelie Vinot (AUS) at 12:00 IST. Nitesh Kumar and Manoj Sarkar will also be battling it out in the Men’s Singles SL3 Group Play Stage, facing Bunsun Mongkhon (THA) and Yang Jianyuan, respectively. Sukant Kadam and Tarun are set to participate in the Men’s Singles SL4 Group Play Stage, with their opponents being Siripong Teamarrom (THA) and Lucas Mazur (FRA). In the Women’s Singles SU5 Group Play Stage, Manisha Ramadass will take on Yang Qiu Xia (CHN).

Para Archery:

Sarita and Sheetal Devi will be competing in the Women’s Individual Compound Open, with Sarita facing Eleonora Sarti (ITA) in the 1/8 Elimination round at 19:00 IST. Sheetal Devi will be up against Mariana Zuniga (CHN) at 20:59 IST. Both athletes have a chance to advance to the quarterfinals, semifinals, and potentially the medal rounds later in the evening.

Para Shooting:

Swaroop Mahavir Unhalkar will participate in the Men’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 Qualification round at 13:00 IST, followed by the final round at 15:45 IST (subject to qualification). Rubina Francis will compete in the Women’s 10m Air Pistol SH1 Qualification round at 15:30 IST, with the final round taking place at 18:15 IST (subject to qualification).

Other Disciplines:

Jyoti Gaderiya will be competing in the Women’s C1-3 500m Time Trial (Qualifying and Final) in Para Cycling Track. Arshad Shaik will participate in the Men’s C1-3 1000m Time Trial (Qualifying and Final). Anita and Narayana Konganapalle will take part in the PR3 Mixed Double Sculls Repechages. Parveen Kumar will compete in the Men’s Javelin Throw F57 Final.
