In anticipation of the upcoming Twenty20 World Cup, the Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) has appointed Abhay Sharma, a seasoned Indian coach, as the head coach of the men’s national team, the Cricket Cranes. Joining 20 other nations in the tournament, the Cricket Cranes will be making their debut in the competition. Sharma, with extensive coaching experience with teams including India A, India Under-19s, the Indian women’s cricket team, and the Delhi Ranji Trophy team, brings a wealth of expertise to the role. Recognizing the team’s progress over the past year, Sharma emphasized the need for improvement in specific areas, particularly fielding, to enhance their performance. His appointment aims to guide the Cricket Cranes towards their aspirations of success in the World Cup.
