Indian Cricketer Radha Yadav Rescued from Vadodara Floods

Indian left-arm spinner Radha Yadav faced a terrifying ordeal on Wednesday as torrential rains triggered severe flooding in Vadodara, Gujarat. The Vishwamitri river overflowed its banks, leading to rising water levels that trapped Yadav. She was eventually rescued by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), who used boats to navigate the inundated streets. Yadav shared her harrowing experience on Instagram, posting a video showcasing the NDRF’s efforts to rescue stranded individuals. In her post, she expressed gratitude to the NDRF, saying, “We are stuck in a very bad situation. Thank you so much #NDRF for rescuing us.” The video vividly depicted the extent of the flooding, showing submerged buildings, roads, and vehicles. NDRF personnel can be seen transporting residents to safety amidst the deluge.

The flooding in Vadodara has severely impacted many low-lying areas, with the overflow of the Vishwamitri river causing widespread damage. Yadav’s experience underscores the gravity of the situation in Gujarat, where numerous cities are battling flood-like conditions due to relentless rainfall.

Adding to the concerns, former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan took to social media to urge residents of Vadodara to prioritize their safety. He tweeted, “Stay safe, Baroda. Flooding is widespread, so please stay indoors for your own safety.” The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast for more extremely heavy rains in isolated parts of Saurashtra on Thursday, indicating that the situation may persist for some time.
