The recent floods and landslides in Nepal have resulted in a tragic loss of life. According to Nepal police, nearly 200 people have died, and 30 others are still missing following torrential rains caused by a low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal. Search and rescue operations are ongoing across the nation.

The death toll is expected to rise as reports continue to emerge from villages throughout Nepal. Rishiram Tiwari, spokesperson for Nepal’s Home Ministry, stated that at least 192 people have perished, 194 have sustained injuries, and 30 remain unaccounted for in the aftermath of the disaster.

Nepal’s government has mobilized all security agencies to conduct search and rescue operations. The Nepal Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force have collaboratively rescued nearly 4,500 individuals affected by the disaster and distributed essential relief supplies, including food grains, to those in need.

Kathmandu’s main river, the Bagmati, has risen above danger levels after relentless rainfall pummeled much of eastern and central Nepal on Friday and Saturday, according to a report by the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD).
