Indian Golfers Shine at La Sella Open, Prashanth-Nedunchezhiyan and Yuki Advance in China

Indian golfers made their presence felt at the La Sella Open, with three players advancing to the weekend rounds. Ridhima Dilawari, Pranavi Urs, and Tvesa Malik all secured their spots in the final two days of the tournament. Dilawari, tied for 15th place with a score of 70-71, showcased her skills with a strong finish on the 18th hole. Urs, at T-34th with a score of 72-71, maintained her consistent play throughout the round. Malik, despite a challenging Round 2, managed to squeeze inside the cut-line with a score of 70-74. Seher Atwal, however, fell short of the cut by a single shot after rounds of 72 and 73.

Meanwhile, Shubhankar Sharma had a disappointing week at the BMW PGA Championship, missing the cut after a second round score of 74. The Indian golfer had a mixed performance with two birdies and three bogeys in the middle of the round.

In China, India’s Vijay Sundar Prashanth and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan secured their place in the Hangzhou Open semifinals after a thrilling victory over the second-seeded Julian Cash and Llyod Glasspool. The duo faced a tough battle, losing the first set but eventually claiming a 6-7 (4), 7-6 (6), 10-8 win in a tense contest. Their next opponent will be the third-seeded Ariel Behar and Robert Galloway.

Adding to the success on the court, Yuki Bhambri, paired with his French partner Albano Olivetti, also advanced to the semifinals of the Chengdu Open. After losing the first set, the third-seeded duo fought back to secure a 5-7, 6-3, 12-10 win against Gonzalo Escobar and Diego Hidalgo. They will now face the second-seeded Ivand Dodig and Rafael Matos in the semifinals.
