The Indian Grand Prix will make its triumphant return to the MotoGP calendar in 2026, organizers announced on Wednesday. This comes just two months after confirming the event’s continuation at the Buddh International Circuit for the next three seasons. Originally scheduled for 2025, the race has been pushed back due to operational considerations, becoming a reserve event for that year.
The decision to delay the Indian Grand Prix follows the cancellation of this year’s event, also attributed to operational factors. In a statement, MotoGP explained, “Operational circumstances have obliged the event to be delayed from its initial slot near the start of the 2025 calendar.” With no available dates towards the end of the season, the race will now take place in the early stages of 2026.
The inaugural Grand Prix at Buddh in 2023 proved a roaring success, drawing in over 100,000 passionate fans. Next year’s event was planned for March, aiming to capitalize on the favorable weather conditions during that period. While the delay may be disappointing for some, it ensures that the Indian Grand Prix returns with even more fanfare in 2026, solidifying its position as a major event on the international motorsport calendar.
