Indian equity markets closed in the green on Tuesday, with the Sensex and Nifty gaining points. Bharti Airtel emerged as the top gainer, contributing the most to the Sensex’s rise. On the other hand, Reliance Industries (RIL) weighed on the indices, dragging them down by 127 points. The Sensex touched a high of 74,059 during the trading session, while the Nifty rose to a high of 22,398. Sector-wise performance was mixed, with Nifty Realty leading the gains with a 2.6% surge. Nifty Auto, FMCG, IT, Media, and Consumer Durables sectors also saw gains ranging from 0.5% to 0.7%. Global markets were positive, driven by a recovery on Wall Street, where investor focus is pinned on earnings reports from the U.S. Oil prices gained on Tuesday after stronger economic data out of Europe. Investors are also considering the impact of potential new U.S. sanctions on Iran’s oil exports, given ongoing tensions in the Middle East. Brent crude futures were at $87.80 a barrel, while U.S. WTI was at $82.61 a barrel. The Rupee was flat and closed at 83.3425 against the U.S. dollar.
